The department has three well equipped laboratories with sophisticated UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The faculty members, apart from teaching, are actively involved in research areas like Kinetics, Corrosion studies, Coordination and Bioinorganic Chemistry, Phytochemistry, Inorganic Photochemistry and Synthetic Organic Chemistry. Our faculties are enriching and updating their knowledge by attending National level Seminar and publishing their research work in reputed journals regularly.

The department of Chemistry has eleven Faculty Members with ten M.Phil. and six Doctorates. One faculty is pursuing his Doctoral research work. Our teachers are guiding M.Phil. students and also evaluating M.Phil. theses. Dr. S. A. It is noteworthy to mention that the department organized a National level two day lecture workshop on Frontiers in Chemistry sponsored by the Three Science Academics of India on 27th and 28th March 2009. UGC sponsored, a two day National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Chemistry” was organized by the Department on 15th and 16th of March 2012. UGC Autonomous Grant Sponsored Two day National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Chemistry” was conducted on 12th and 13th March 2015. Besides a district level three days orientation programme for P.G teachers of Theni district was conducted by the department. Our department is also keenly participating in the science forum activities. Tamilnadu State Council Sponsored 28 days residential Youth Students Scientists Programme (YSSP) for Ninth and Tenth standard students of Dindigul and Theni district was conducted during May 2012 and 2013.

Our alumni are occupying reputed positions in various fields such as research, education, industry and administration in various parts of the world. Alumni association is functioning effectively. Our alumni are working in reputed pharmaceutical companies like Orchid, Biocon, TTK etc. Some of our students are working as Professors in colleges and universities. Many of our students are doing research in IIT Chennai, IISc., Bangalore and Madurai Kamaraj University.

The Chemistry Department is consecutively producing rank holders in the University level. Recently, four of our students have passed SET examination conducted by the state government.
